A two-part engraving titled Marché Désclaves (Slave Market) depicts the international slave trade. The scene at top shows a merchant apparently choosing which people he wants to buy. At bottom, the Africans left behind mourn the loss of their loved ones. This engraving was published in the two-volume Traité Générale du Commerce de l'Amérique (1783), written by the French author Chambon.
